Seems like a nice way to get 493hp & 590lb-ft
"Motor and trans 4k. Whole car 7k"
"Water pump needs to be replaced since it was damaged in accident. Everything else is good."

NP only if the computers are included, and I can have the wheels too.

Those wheels are quite nice. Probably why I always see them on slammed VAG cars.

Yeah, I'll just mount the set on the wall of the garage. I quite like them, but would never dare put them on a vehicle which they do not belong.
BaconSandwich is tasty.

That front end damage looks pretty bad. I suspect more than just the water pump is broken. Just a guess, though.

You're probably right, the Woodward FB group might be the worst thing on FB. Probably best to not trust anyone on it.

[entire front end is smashed in]
"Just needs water pump."

I would never buy a Merc V12 that wasn't running and driving. Far too much that can be damaged.
Besides, according to Tavarish you can buy an S600 running and driving for $7k.

But only 22k miles! and it was running and driving at some point …..

It was running and driving when it hit the tree. Doesn't mean it's still running and driving-capable now. Trans bell housing could be broken. Stress cracks in the block. The wiring could be fuckered. As the short man working in a Colorado restaurant freezer once said, "The steaks are too high."

First off LOL @ "As the short man working in a Colorado restaurant freezer once said, "The steaks are too high."
Second, I checked back and he said "Its runs btw", thats at least something.

Get a running, not-totaled CL600 for $8k

It's a very complicated engine. Motor and trans doesn't help you unless you have another one that needs a motor and trans. You need the wiring and the computers if you want it to run. It's not an LS motor - you can't just slap a new intake manifold and a Holley 4-barrel on it and call it good.

Am I serious that I think it seems like a nice way to get 493hp & 590lb-ft?
Yes ???

Damn …. the SL's engine has a lot less miles. But either way, I didn't know you could get a not broken example for that cheap.

CL != SL, and the cheapest CL on cars.com is $6k.
CL was the S platform but as a super coupe.
SL is the two-seater. The cheapest SL600 on cars.com from that era is $18k.

Well obviously …. I'd assume there is wiggle room in that price. Or some "4k with computers" room.
Still though, might not be a terrible price.

I know …. didn't know the price difference though.
Weird because they're actually really close in terms of everything. Just pick between a folding roof or backseat.
